I Missed the Chance

A long time ago I lived up north in the cold I used to play guitar in a rock and roll band I went from town to town never thought I'd get old Having fun a screaming amp is all I understand But I had to give it up Had a family needed money Found a job and got cleaned up Without the beard I sure looked funny It would only be a while Before I hit the road again But I was wrong by a mile It was close to 40 years when I retired with a pension Could dust off my guitar And relearn it to perfection And finally be a star But from the first off glance It sure didn't take too long To see I missed the chance And that my life had been all wrong Yes all wrong I missed the chance I've had this guitar for 50 some years She stills sings so sweet, but doesn't know me I have a great amp, it's as big as a fridge It stays where it sits, I have a bad knee I run to the bathroom, in between sets I run really fast, I sure have to pee After my gig, I go straight home to bed And sleep until noon, no party for me I missed the chance It's all wrong
