What's Right

For all of my life, I've looked to the stars And wondered what it'd be like to travel that far Sailing past Mercury, Venus, and Mars Is a better night out than going to bars But sitting with her, looking at the night sky I'm not watching the moon or the comets fly by I'm watching the flicker of stars in her eyes The supernova when our gazes collide The air is warm like Venus No longer light years between us Yes, the moon moves the tides around And gravity keeps us on the ground The earth supports life, the sun gives us light And Saturn, it has seven rings But all of those things Never come first before you Cause you're what's right about the universe The planet keeps turning, 365 The atmosphere here, it keeps us alive But I'd travel 912 million miles To sit on Saturn's rings with you and your smile And yes, we are small We're smaller than dwarfs We're closer to amethysts, granite, or quartz To me, you're a giant like Jupiter is Minus the gas and the storms and the winds The air is warm like Venus No longer light years between us Yes, the moon moves the tides around And gravity keeps us on the ground The earth supports life, the sun gives us light And Saturn, it has seven rings But all of those things Never come first before you Cause you're what's right about the universe I'm in awe as she's sitting next to me Telling me how Venus is just like Earth It's a similar size, but we'd meet our demise Before we've reached the surface Perfect planets do not exist But this moment with her is the closest this one will ever get Yes, the moon moves the tides around And gravity keeps us on the ground The earth supports life, the sun gives us light And Saturn, it has seven rings But all of those things never, never, never Come first before you Cause you're what's right about the universe
