What Do I Say?

In a town where dreams look for someone to cling to I'll tell you a story of a boy I once knew His mother lied to him his entire life Living all his years on the edge of a knife His father was strong but not knowing his son Too long at the office and no time for fun Then the quarrels began between mum and dad Stuck in the middle not knowing good from bad So what do I tell him? What do I say? So mum and dad went their separate ways And that's when his life went astray He entered a world of pleasures and pains The highs and lows flowing through his veins As a man he was just a scared little boy Spiralling up and down into a void Trying to drink himself out of this whole Again and again spinning out of control So what do I tell him? What do I say? The last time I saw him he was covered in blood He died at thirty nine all he needed was love So what do I tell him? What do I say?
