Coming Home

He’s been gone For so many years  Our lives have changed We’ve overcome our fears I’m sick and tired of being apart The war has dug a hole in my heart He’s leaving tomorrow  I’m lucky he’s alive Some of his friends   They didn’t survive Now that there’s peace I can hardly wait To see my brother, my friend, my mate He is coming home He wants to be left alone He wants to hold on to what he owns But in the meantime All the wounds  Now covered in scars He would have been the man  Who’d reach for the stars  But all these memories of guns and blood They brought him down, now he’s stuck in the mud He is coming home He wants to be left alone He wants to hold on to what he owns But in the meantime Now at the place Where his memories began He left a child But now he’s a man Now that he’s home, mem’ries growing dim The tears flow out as I look at him Now he is home with me  And he can be what he wants to be And he can go where he wants to go Now that he’s home
