Broken Hourglasses

River flowing water from places I've never been Tug pushing coal from a mountain I've never seen Bridge above me never gets to take a little break Everyone's going everywhere and don't want to wait Everything everywhere keeps moving on down the line Sands of my own hourglass run so much faster with time Maybe that's why everyone is in a hurry just trying to be yeah it seems the only thing gets slower with time is me I'm making good time here floating on by here Casting that line here trolling on by here I've got my rod and I've got my reel I'll let the river be my own time steal Clank from train cars in a hurry to somewhere it wont stay Dust on the wind I'm breathing comes from too far away I'm casting in my fishing gear humming an old tune Trying to have forever today in this modern day typhoon Sitting watching all this motion in my own time's river Feeling that wind blowing giving me a little shiver Pushing me a little quicker on that wide river way Floating on broken hourglasses from long ago yesterday I'm making good time here floating on by here Casting that line here trolling on by here I've got my rod and I've got my reel I'll let the river be my own time steal
