Healing is deep sea diving It is hooking yourself to borrowed oxygen It is going so far down You aren't quite sure what you'll find No one is quite sure what you'll find Because 80% of the ocean is unexplored It is seeing such thick blackness that You must rely on touch and on sound Because we recall our worst moments Not as a story played out in front of us But as a splattering of sensations It is knowing that You must come up for air again But also that resurfacing too quickly Could be deadly You cannot rush this process Things need to decompress It is seeing the sun again Or maybe the moon Or maybe gray clouds As you break through the ocean waves It is returning to the water once more
