I'm Scared-I'm Scared Nothing Will Change

j.r.taylor i'm scared-i'm scared nothing will change şarkı sözleri

The American dream  Love and equality for all... Can you see it? Can you see it in Jim Crow? In the Trail of Tears? The Mexican Repatriation? In the Japanese internment camps? Can you see it in the rope Noose Dangling from the tree? Is this the "American Dream"? Can you see it in Seneca Village? In the Opelousas, Louisiana massacre? In the East St. Louis riots ? Can you see it in the burnt Beaten Vandalized culture? Is this the "American Dream"? Can you see it in the justice system? In the Colfax Massacre? In the Race Riot of D.C.? In the Tulsa Race Massacre? Can you see it in the unknown body count, No contrition-only pride, For the sins our country is built upon. Is this the "American Dream"? When an AR-15 walks inside a state capitol, In white hands Reinforcing a protest against wearing a mask With no repercussions Or fear of Can you see the "American dream" then? Can you see it? When protesters are tear gassed and shot at For being angry, sad, hurt over the murders By the ones claiming to protect and uphold the law Can you see the "American dream" then? Can you see where this makes "America Great Again"? Riot Do it They'll say it's savage  Stupid  Typical  Counterproductive They'll say anything To point the finger away from The privileged The knowing accomplices The constructs of the systematic oppression The proprietors of systematic wealth disparity They'll say anything To believe the purest lie America is the land of the beautiful  Great  Free  Equality Riot Do it I've never seen something so soulless Until I looked the United States of America in the face Looked directly into those eyes As the dying breathe rasped a plea for "mama" Looked directly into those eyes and saw nothing Staring Back Riot Do it Enough Is enough Of not enough I've never seen something so passionate until I saw Minneapolis burn Force us to see the fire THE FIRE! The fire burning in the soul For every Bone heart soul shattered Under the constant oppression Of the smothering infrastructure Riot Do it Point the finger right back at us We've been passive too long Change is upon us! Force us to understand Nothing should be the same Riot Do it America can be the land of the beautiful America can be the land of the great America can be the land of the free America can be the land of equality Once nothing is the same
