Prologue

She was being retrospective Using it as a form of reflection to tell me that she wished she had calculated less and Made more mistakes She had learnt to deal with the stress because she knew she had what it takes to fake Faking it so good that she actually believed that she made it She said, I misplaced my marks of beauty because of course I had to be perfect According to my so-called societal duties Never realizing that consistently swallowing all of that bullshit made me lose focus of What's actually important. My vision, to show the world that I am and always been, a Black woman and proud But I, I just keep going round, and around and around and around in circles Wondering, who am I?
