Goblin Song

I am a goblin fiend collecting sticks and bugs and shiny things I don't know how to speak Most things don't make sense to me And all my friends are scared of me with beady eyes and crooked teeth Its getting pretty hard to see that despite my appearance i'm really sort of friendly And all the spirits in the forest never seem to enjoy my company they always toss me in the shadows Never found the light to see The other creatures know how to glow and make light of their own But tell me what i'm meant to do when my only light was made by you The other ghoulies hide their fearsome faces with shiny golden masks And I could try to smear some mud all on my face and hope to pass I have some rocks and leaves, press them into my face to make it more appealing But when the light shines through the trees it's not that hard to tell it's me Look at this mess, he doesn't have a clue There's bugs in his ears and slugs on his shoes Worms in his hair, oh he'll give you quite the scare Try your best not to stare Its like he's not even there He's got mud in his eyes and grass in his teeth Snails rest on the nails with the dirt shoved beneath At the rise of the moon he'll finally rest soon Snuggled up in a tree as he listens to the breeze
