Before the cold there was a storm Of hellfire and beasts, it was an apocalyptic swarm Before the cold it was sweet Snow fell like sugar on a sour candy treat Before the cold they were alone Before they found each other they had no place to call home In the dark they were at peace Hunting down a can of soup on which they would feast Before the war, of all wars Before the end, of all there is Before the cure, there was no more Before the cold, before the cold Before the cold their feet hurt She would ride on his back while holding onto his beard Miles on a burdened trail Hours in the cold wind turned their skin blue and pale Through the streets they would walk Making their way left only brisk air in their stalk But the cold remained unkind It drove him crazy forced him to leave her behind She survived on her own volition He lost his mind to the winter season To survive it's a take and give He gave all he had just to keep on livin' Time went on and he didn't realize Just how much it meant to be by her side They shared a bittersweet gaze He tried couldn't remember her face
