Suitcase packed, with dreams and fear Leaving behind old life so clear Relatives say, You'll be alright As I left by plane into the night Chaperoned, guided, skies opened wide discovering new lands where I'll reside Mama and Papa, waiting evermore So relieved, but my heart's unsure I'm this new kid, in some place unknown Searching, wanting to be at home Lost in accents, rules, estranged New stories from pages rearranged New suburbs stretch, big city looms near A maze of streets, and big people I fear This isn't home, but I guess it could be If I find my place, feel comfort and free New schools, bells call, they say my name New stage, new faces, not the same Words I speak don't seem quite right Dance is my rhythm, to make life birght I'm the new kid, finding new ground New friends, differences and sounds Lost, alone but fear cant win To make my mark, stay brave within Every challenge, win or lose Climbing hills for greater views From broken, shy, to artistic dreams I've learned life's lesson so it seems We dance, rise up, we find our way Helping others, be strong, be brave If they see my worth, I'll see it through Together, we'll run, break through I was the new kid, no longer lost Every struggle, worth the cost I make my plans, I build, I grow Pages, life stories, memorable show From the great north snow to southern rain So much joy, and loss - much pain But here I am, a voice so bright This new kid's home, my story's life
