Our Second Death

The statues start to rust All gravestones turn to dust What luxury could we afford When nothing's meant to last The mountains will crumble And the sun will break someday What are we but grains of sand Let the waves wash you away, accept the end Accept or don't, and come what may Ignore the lies the preachers say Forget the life that's after death And let the present blow you away Indifference is not found between This one world to the next The body fades, the thought remains We're following the text The final hope of man When none of us can stay We do everything we can To delay our second death There's no escape Don't run away A secret kept, so no one knows What happens when the doors shut close I pray for those that spend their days Preparing for when it all ends So make the most of your time here Don't count the years, you'll disappear Aside from life, and warmth of flesh The only certainty is death
