Bells are hanging Hear them ring On the corner People sing All announcing The same thing It's Christmas Snow is falling Spirits high People laughing Don't ask why It's in the air We can't deny It's Christmas We've been taught since we were born When we wake up Christmas morn To love and peace our hearts are sworn We never stop to doubt But somehow when the day is gone The spell is broken, lights go on And with one final tired yawn We throw the spirit out Back to business Back to work "I hate my boss!" "That stupid jerk!" So far away That short-lived perk Of Christmas Can't be swayed By those in need Who interfere With profit greed And give away Our rat race lead Like it's Christmas If only we could come to feel That Christmas peace and love are real Then maybe we could learn to heal The problems we create Might i propose we make a pact That every word and every act Are guided by the simple fact That love can conquer hate So ring the bells and string the lights Grab a hand and hold on tight Make a wish with all your might And trust they'll do the same So share your gifts and understand It means more from your own two hands And feel the love across the land And to all the world exclaim That on the wings of a soaring dove This nation begs to rise above The bells do not care who you love They ring because you do And with the promise it will bring We lift our voices and we sing That kindness is to be our king And peace begins with you Bells are hanging Hear them ring On the corner People sing All announcing The same thing It's Christmas Snow is falling Spirits high People laughing Don't ask why It's in the air We can't deny It's Christmas
