The Dream

It's evening and the wine on the table is calling my name It's always the same The dream of pleasure again There's a warm sense of peace that I feel as I drink that wine But there's so much on the line And I let go every time If only I could see all those dreams that I've been feeling Maybe I'd feel Like those dreams are somehow real When I awaken to a bright and early morning The promise of the day Is the dream of life on it's way And the love from yesterday's dream Still keeps my company That piece of time you shared with me Lights me up for all to see But then the dream gets all confused by too many stories To really be free Is to let go of the dream There's a hunger inside that constantly needs to be fed But it's all in my head Words that don't need to be said There's a wanting that drives me down the road to the bright lights of town But the pleasures I found Can't stop this train on which I'm bound And the love from yesterday's dream Still keeps my company That piece of time you shared with me Lights me up for all to see But then the dream gets all confused by too many stories To really be free Is to let go of the dream And up ahead flashing lights cast pretty colors onto a scene But until we get there we'll never really know what it means And up ahead a distant howling wind from a storm that's rolling by Casts a picture of blinding rain onto a sunny sky And the love from yesterdays dream Still keeps my company That piece of time you shared with me Lights me up for all to see But then the dream gets all confused by too many stories To really be free Is to let go of the dream To really be free Is to let go of the dream
