In My Dreams

Three hours later and you were gone I was the first kid to know or maybe just the first to shout I still feel bad for yelling at mom like it was her fault But I was a kid and kids don't understand those things at all For years and years, I jumped at every phone call Thinking maybe it was the hospital Saying they made a mistake I think a part of me will forever be ten years old Waiting for you to come back and tell me you were saving the world And you had to hide because you were being chased by evil spies And you didn't die you were a superhero in disguise I think a part of me will always believe That you're going to come back And this will all have been just some awful dream For most of my life without you around You knew me then But you don't know me now I think that's why I cling so hard to who I was I want to be someone you remember, someone you love How did it take three hours for you to be gone My superhero unafraid was of the dark And when I got scared I would sleep in your arms Now I hold myself And I pray that I see you in my dreams I think a part of me will forever be ten years old Waiting for you to come back and save the world
