Here's the thing-- I wrote some of these songs when I was 22 That was the year I let my friend practice on my skin at tattoos Here's the thing about being 22 I desperately wanted to be badass, but I was a goob And I wanted to do drugs-- don't do drugs But if you do, think it through We all want to do drugs-- don't do drugs But if you do, think it through Here's the thing, when I was 22 the kids of Harry Potter seemed my age Now I think of 16 year olds doing drugs and it's really not okay And you don't wanna hear it, that your brains are still developing But now I'd save my younger self from spiraling-- spiraling When I did drugs-- don't do drugs But if you do, think it through We all want to do drugs-- don't do drugs But if you do, think it through Here's the thing, I didn't actually do that many drugs I don't regret them that much-- I regret my then-crushing need to be liked and loved Coolness doesn't come from tattoos or experience It comes from being honest about how you make your mess So when you make your mess Don't do drugs-- don't do drugs But if you do, think it through We all want to do drugs But don't do it just cuz somebody thinks it's cool Don't hurt yourself to break the rules Don't get bad 50 buck tattoos Don't do drugs But if you do, think it through We all want to do drugs But if you do, think it through
