I still remember the first time The thought crossed my mind I felt so warm I felt so safe Lying by your side The dim lighting on the room The conversations on the afternoon The way my heart jumped The air left my lungs And I thought please love be gone CauseI cant let myself mess what we have I prayed to God and Mozart I prayed to the moon and the stars But they never listened They never replied And you were still on my mind With the word love came guilt Cause I was not one of the lucky kids That got support and got respect So i could not afford to lose a friend It's hard to let go of the past And slowly deconstruct The shame that comes with years of trying So I stopped And I thought maybe I didn't have to do it alone That maybe what i felt for you was not as wrong Because I prayed to God and Mozart I prayed to the moon and the stars But they never listened They never replied And you were still on my mind And I get a phone call from you saying "you have been reading the signs wrong, you're just a fool" Because You prayed to God and Mozart You prayed to the moon and the stars Maybe they listened Maybe they replied That's why I'm still on your mind They were all rooting for us
