God help me I’m terrified Will I die keeping them alive Everything we were told was the truth was only lies Your platitudes made people die. Don’t applaud me from your balcony If you’re hoarding all the PPE You know we need it to stay safe while we’re saving lives Your greed makes people die Is mine the last face that you’ll see as you approach eternity Holding your hand, I’ll mask the fear that’s in my eyes But every day I’m terrified Never thought it’d come to this Having to choose who gets to live They’re drowning in midair, no way to Save their lives Watching too many die This is the worst thing that I’ve known Try not to let them die alone I’m in a constant state of shock Please God, make this terror stop! Gotta stay far from my family Terrified they’ll catch it from me When I go home I’m too tired to scream or even cry Can’t watch my family die The word came down from the top Speaking out will cost me my job The care we’d all been taught was safe Now washed away in this tidal wave Who’ll be left to care for me When I’m dying from this disease So tired of watching my fellow nurses cry All terrified we’re gonna die Is mine the last face that you’ll see As you approach eternity Holding your hand I’ll mask the fear that’s in my eyes But every day I’m terrified Yeah every day I’m terrified I’m terrified Please God, don’t let me die
