Often spoken boldly, prophecies of old About a man who came from Nazareth Possessing all virtue, humble and kind He would lift and heal and bless every broken heart But others He came across mocked Him to scorn Gethsemane, Calvary, great cause to morn But He loved us, gave us mercy still Through heartache, trial, and struggle I am filled With Hope Christ pierces the darkness He softens all sorrow And gladdens every heart Just trust, and never surrender Courage, press on He has overcome the world Time moving forward, seasons pass on Heeding prophet's words, holding to God's law Working all virtue, seeking for truth Serving, lifting, blessing every heavy heart But doubt takes my faith and despair seizes hope Selfishness rules charity Promises once trusted in seem hidden Wondering where God's been But He loves me, gives me, mercy still In every moment's weakness I am filled With Hope Christ pierces my darkness He softens my sorrow And gladdens every part of my heart I'll never surrender Courage, press on He has overcome The world can turn tragically, generate storms Cynically casting its cloud But I know there's a plan full of beauty and truth Patiently I'll work in faith Cause He loves us, gives us, mercy still Every promise will be fulfilled Hope Christ's pierced all our darkness He's softened our sorrow And gladdened every part of our hearts We'll never surrender Courage, press on Steadfast in Christ He has overcome the world We will overcome the world
