A Different Path

We waltzed through the burning fields with shattered glass below As we walk hand and hand to start reaping what we sew Construct the perfect walls around to keep the demons out Sitting on a cloud looking down at the shadows that we shroud I miss your optimistic nature In this land alone filled with snakes with tongues like jaded razors Glaciers sinking deeper and our feet are chained attached We crawled out the rabbit hole without a single scratch We took a different path but we don't know where it's headed Shredding through this sea of trees to stop it if you let it Don't sweat it, even though your soul has reached a boil And your consciousness is leaking out being strangled by the serpents coil I recall a simpler time Where we designed our fate and the stars were so divine But overtime we didn't look close to read the signs Now we're lost again looking for something that we can't find Never-ending navigations of this reformation Who am I to set examples for future generations?
