Contentment

I cant tell you what you need to feel happy And don't know just what it means to be satisfied Contentment is a feeling that seems to escape me She said but Do you know how it feels to have the light inside you die To me happiness is when I hold you in my arms When the distance between us doesn't seem so very far I'm not talking about distance as in 500 miles I'm talking about the distance you feel when there's no eye contact or smiles To me happiness is when I can make you laugh When I can honestly say we're living every moment like it's our last When the hours feel like seconds when the weeks feel like days when the months feel like weeks because we haven't lived like slaves But it seems those moments they can never last Because when your living the dream reality pulls you right back So I cant tell you what you need to feel happy And don't know just what it means to be satisfied Contentment is a feeling that seems to escape me She said but Do you know how it feels to have the light inside you die She said death to me sounds like it could be a sweet release from the struggle of life could be a way to break free It's not worth it to me to work 50 hours a week and hardly make enough to stay alive I don't want to do this for 50 more years just to stay alive and still be doing the same shit I don't want to look back and think what the f*ck is this you've been alive 70 years and you never really lived And it seems these feelings never pass Because living in reality the dreams never last I just want you to be happy I want you to live and to be satisfied Contentment is fleeting it seems to escape me I don't want you to ever feel the light inside you die
