I Had a Child When I Was Younger

I had a child when I was younger I saw that tears were all she liked I did not know why one would linger In a puddle of self-sacrifice She liked to cry for no good reason But she would smile at every child That felt neglected Felt rejected Felt that people had left them behind Oh she tried And she did not know how to handle What her own heart couldn’t do Taking burdens off the others Shushing fires and turning blue I had a child when I was younger She felt the world had to be saved She felt the need to keep on praying Getting closer to heavens gates She kept on reading different verses, Telling herself she would grow She would grow by doing What all of the others told her to do Oh and she tried Oh she tried She saw that glass was always broken People always fell apart And the glue she used to fix the others Was made of hope And parts of her own heart Oh she tried And she did not know how to handle What her own heart couldn’t do Taking burdens off the others Shushing fires and turning blue Turning blue
