The Rain

Some people think it's never enough between us But their doubt is flooding the dirt and mud till it's too much And the rain Did fall And I Did hear you call And the rain As I've known never felt so cold We stand neath the overhang and watch it fall Ain't it funny how the many drops never hit us And the lights You saw Weren't city skies Or rushing cars No the lights You saw were burning the world away Nothing I could ever say could comfort you But I can give you these velvet rings to talk to But in the dry Wasteland You cried For your mothers hand And the dry Stares started to take their toll I never wanted to be ok before But your warm embrace and your endless words keep me torn And I Don't think Together We could ever sink I I pray we stay afloat
