The Life I Chose to Start

I want not for food I want not for drink I want not for sisters To tell what I think And though it may seem Like I'm trapped in these laws Does not near every home Have its flaws When I was a child I dreaded my life One day I'd grow older And be some man's wife I wanted to find An escape from this fate But how could I waver The path was so straight I felt the same It lit a flame I am not free here But it is close enough I chose my destiny Now life is not as rough Here I can be who I am In my heart I live the life I chose to start
