Youth and the Young Man

Lately, I've been terrified I'm paralyzed This body's like a cage Maybe I've been getting sick or maybe it's a coming of age I hear it in the air at night It whispers lies and spreads them through my room All the while, I lie there quiet through falsely rendered dread and impending doom Blindly now, I'm holding on to faith 'Cause lately I've been hearing it's all the rage All in all, it seems like nothing new But you don't know me At least not like you think you do I feel like an unfinished sculpture waiting to take a chisel to the head Though I know it molds and shapes me, I think I should've stayed a rock instead 'Cause I don't know if I can handle the effigy I'm expected to be Well, now I guess I've seen what happens when youth and the young man don't agree Blindly now, I'm holding on to faith 'Cause lately I've been hearing it's all the rage All in all, it seems like nothing new But you don't know me No, you don't know me Yeah, you don't know me At least not like you think you do
