laird murfey sowing the family line (feat. zb savoy) şarkı sözleri
I've got a photo from 1916
When my granddaddy first plowed this field we're seeing
And he met my grammaw beneath that oak tree
With dirty hands danced below leaves of green
They were happy as any lovers could be
Then father came and children made everything seem
Like the dream of a family had just sprouted up
And that oak tree was growing as they all grew up
I look to the sky and get down to my knees
And I thank you for bein alive
This old tree keeps growin and we keep on goin
We're sowin the family line
Father took over this old family farm
When my granddaddy hung up his hat and his heart
He worked this land by the same old oak tree
Just making a life for my brothers and me
When I was young I'd look up at those leaves
And be struck by the safety and strength they could wield
To think branches could grow out of roots there so deep
Like the blood of our fathers who's memories we keep
I look up to the sky and get down to my knees
And I thank you for bein alive
This old tree keeps growin and we keep on goin
We're sowin' the family line
As we look out upon this field before
Like our fathers did so many years a go
Go on take this photograph its your with the land my son
Like this the oak tree i'm watching you grow
So go take a vow boy and find you a wife
Don't do all that I've done son but make you a life
Filled with joy and with pain in the shade of this tree
That one day you can pass to your own son and see
He'll look to the sky and get down on his knees
And he'll thank you for being alive
This old tree keeps growin and we keep on goin
We're sowin the family line
We're sowin the family line
