Now let me take you on the trip Way back to my beginnings Before I had this ill rhyme style that I'm kicking Living off the edge so I wasn't doing swell Never figured I'd be homeless only by the age of twelve Too young to understand or try to cope with the pain I questioned why it happened was it karma was it fate With so much stress to take I was nearly bout to break But what had kept me sane was this black cassette tape Now to you it might seem useless But it was filled with music Unc handed me a shoebox recorder so I could use it And use it I did I plugged my cord into the headphone jack Popped the tape into the deck an then rewinded it back Press play I sat quiet to the headphone static Next thing you know my eyes lit up cuz what I heard was orgasmic Real underground rapping as smooth as you could imagine Every play made my troubles faded away like it was magic I won't lie its like magic I let the music ease my mind sometimes to free my soul I won't lie yo its like magic I let its fly up amongst the sky like the wind I flow Eventually I lost the tape and it really had me sick No hip hop to listen to and so I needed my fix To scratch the itch I decided I should write it myself Just for the heck of it so effortless it came with no help Spired by cube and Eazy-E heavily I won't lie None the less, I was impressed by my first written rhymes But yet surprised at the fact that they had spawned from my mind So then I went to go and test them with the homies outside They were chilling in the halls of the shelter that we lived in Told them I wrote some bars and they said ight then spit em No hesi I let em fly, nigh could tell from their reaction that I had to gift of god like my name Its something magic I won't lie its like magic I let the music ease my mind sometimes to free my soul I won't lie yo its like magic I let its fly up amongst the sky like the wind I flow
