LIKE A FATHER SHOULD

I just wanted to show you this That's my dad Hang on I'll put it down That's my dad and that's me We were at a father daughter thing Maddie Huh "I'm okay" has only caused me damage Kept things in to keep the peace Turns out that is kind of hard to manage The peace I kept started war in me I'd give everything To be your anything But it's not healthy I wish you protected me how You always protect yourself I wish you held onto me like You've held onto everyone else What is it I'm missing Why can't things be different Don't you wanna be in my life Like a father should I put in work to know what makes you happy Never got there Tried out for softball And everyone knows that I hate running How idiotic of me When I told you everything You laughed at all my honesty And honestly I think therapy is hurting more than helping Cause I have to accept the gaslighting How does a parent do that lightly (How could you) I've given everything To be your anything But it's not helping You should've protected me how You always protect yourself You could've held onto me like You've held onto everyone else There's so much you're missing Things could have been different You don't wanna be in my life Like a father should Oh oh I found my father in the midst of me losing one Through all the bitterness He gave me a way to love When I thought end He said that He's only just begun I've found a father He's a good father I wish you knew Him too Cause maybe then I would know you Hello?
