The World You Came to Save

We're stuck in this human condition Cursed with our selfish ambition And no matter how hard we try We just can't see through Your eyes Cause sometimes we're like Moses We get weary in the wilderness And frustration makes us start to disobey And sometimes we're like David Sinning in our own beds Hiding all the things that bring us shame Trying to put limits on Your grace In the world You came to save We're stuck in this human condition Cursed with our selfish ambition And no matter how hard we try We just can't see through Your eyes Sometimes we're like Jonah Pointing fingers standing over All the people that we don't want You to save And sometimes we're like Saul And we don't seek You at all We're too busy chasing David round in circles in the caves Trying to put limits on Your grace In the world You came to save We're stuck in this human condition Cursed with our selfish ambition And no matter how hard we try We just can't see through Your eyes Sometimes we're like Peter We want to run on out and meet You But our fear makes us crash into the waves And sometimes we're like Thomas We want proof that You're among us We forget that You have called us to have faith Trying to put limits on Your grace In the world You came to save It's hard to just keep on living When we realize all that we're giving Won't be enough to run this race We always forget our place Cause sometimes we're like Judas And we betray You with a kiss And think that there's no hope for us to change But the only way to be like Jesus Is to let You come and meet us In the middle of the messes we have made And start living like reflections of your grace In the world You came to save
