17 & Free

I was just a girl in my Gymboree Not ready for you to leave me at my preschool I always loved it when you'd eat lunch with me Back when I was in elementary Didn't care what the other kids thought Cause you were the ones I loved And nothing's changed at all Still the special ones I love But you're loosening the reigns And I'm learning to let go In a couple few days I'll be seventeen And I'm starting to feel the freedom Oh I'm learning how to do it on my own But I'll never be alone no And I'll always be your baby But how I can't wait Oh how I can't to be seventeen and free Oh seventeen and free Now I'm living the life of a high school teenager And I'm kinda scared of what's to come Tryna live in the moment High school games and homecoming It's a hard to swallow That I'm getting older I'm entering the unknown Watching my future unfold oh I'm learning to how to love life While figuring it out at the same time Oh I'm seventeen And I'm still learning just how to be free As I grow older I've learned that everything is a learning experience And as I mature I see beauty, I see worth in everything I do I learned it all from you
