The clock on the wall wails a song Of the waste and the loss That it holds And it rings through the hall Like a tired old ghost You have what you have so you keep what's left close The fragile scene sleeps Guarded only by sheets It's a fear of the burden to bear She's holding her own Though the balance is thrown Coughing up all the guilt in the air Holding out for Something that isn't quite there Contradiction or two Make a wreck of the room Who do you and your worth think you are All these horses and men Lined up neatly again Only briefed with the message to scar Advancing by raising alarm When has mercy served better while armed Holding as tight as I can Unflinching time but a steady hand
