Lost Again

Lost my way again Chasing after fireflies, So brightly shining. And I don’t know where I am. And it’s starting to get cold. I begin to feel afraid As fireflies with dimming lights Start leaving me alone. I begin to yearn for daylight But it seems I’ll wait for long. In the darkness reminiscing Of when I was safe at home. Wondering if anybody’s missing me. Why should anybody worry If I’m missing or I’m gone? Shouldn’t I know better than to roam alone? Tears fill up my eyes. I can feel the gazes Of the predators around. Now I’m pinned against the ground. Guess I’ll never make it back. But I hear a voice that calls me, And it calls me by my name. And its ringing scares the predator away. And before my trembling knees can Ever run to where He is, I’m surrounded by His arms; I’m finally safe. In his desperate escape The wolf attacks my loving shepherd. Leaving scars that will remain upon His flesh. But with scarred and bleeding hands, He holds me close. He’d hold forever. Cause to Him I’m more important than His pain. Heading home again, I can see the home-town lights So brightly shining. Got no doubts ‘bout where I am. I can feel the master’s warmth. I don’t need to feel afraid. As party lights and smiles so bright Are welcoming me home. I’ll still have to wait for daylight, But the wait won’t feel so long. And I sit here, and I’m thinking Of when I was far from home, Of how desperately my father yearned for me. How he cannot help but worry If I missing or I’m gone. How He bears eternal scars because of me.
