Can we turn this car around I left my favorite blanket at home Mom said don't worry we can go back and get it I was only seven years old But the days turn into weeks And the weeks turn into years Back then there were only monsters to fear And I was able to wake up before the sun began to rise Nothing could dull the light in my eyes Can we turn this car around I don't want to be seen with my mom I made her drop me off around the corner And walked away as soon as she was gone Then came the breakups and she’d hold me tight And tell me everything'll be alright Mom I was broken and confused but I took it out on you Now I'm alone breaking down in parking lots I took for granted everything I got So is it too late to turn the car around Because I need you now So can we turn this car around I'm not ready to be on my own When I was younger all I wanted was to grow up But now I'm scared and I wanna go home Cause the days turn into weeks and the weeks they feel like years I miss back when there were only monsters to fear And I wish I was able to wake up before the sun begins to rise But life has a tendency to dull the light in your eyes
