Empty Space

There's an empty space behind the old water treatment plant I've been known to stop my car now and then beside the dam These days the only thing to keep me sane in this small town is putting makeup on just To Watch some water fall down Staring at that concrete wall about once a week So I can feel enthralled by something deep When the pulse beneath my skin starts to bite I drive home like it's the only time I might Couple days ago I went to watch the trains at night Could barely see their silhouette against the red rail light I guess you could say it brings me peace of mind to put a name to what's passing me by Tell this young heart to get along with my old head Acting like there's something wrong with leaving things unsaid I watch that idle train stand in spite, like it knows it's the only time I might I've been catching my eyes in the mirror as of late The only part of my mind that I don't lose is weight I know that I've got family, I've got friends But I'm not living for myself, I'm surviving for them And if you find I'm gone without a trace, will one of you check on my quiet place?
