Dear past me I promise life is going to get nasty But it gets better even when things end badly You'll go up and down from being sad to happy And you not going to understand it's going to make you feel real trashy So please don't worry about growing up too fast Just go outside and please make the fun times last Cuz now that I'm older, I just want to be a kid again And I wanna be outside no worries just dribbling And I know you was stressed out as a youngin Just a little kid and you was trapped in your own dungeon You got made fun of sometimes with those words so pungent Waiting for the days where you can ball without budget And I'm glad you started writing those lyrics back in the sixth grade Especially when you saw no sun and all you felt was shade You going to learn soon music I your band aid You gonna witness some things that's going to have you so afraid Please talk about your problems please don't hush them And here's some advice just cuz their family don't mean you can trust them And you going to learn that when when you get closer then your friendship going to get rusted So trust me just cut them Don't even try to reconstruct it Cuz you was there for them but when you needed them they shut you out And you're a little flower ready to sprout So please follow your dreams and go all out And I know there's sometimes you went a different route But Dear past me Please learn how to love yourself Because you're going to meet people who's gonna damage on your wealth And please do not let this affect your mental health And don't worry about fitting in just please move in so stealth Cuz then you'll wear a mask just to fit in With a bunch of kids who don't care about you but keep it hidden You felt like giving up a lot I appreciate the ambition Cuz being sad everyday was a horrible tradition Being honest I'm just glad you snapped out of it And now you're walking feeling free like if you are just out of debt Your heart got that protection with all this love that is surrounding it So now you no longer feel broken And all this pain and healing has you awoken And now you doing something you love with all of your focus Nate, you'd be proud of where I'm at now You didn't know how your life would turn out but somehow We made it through the storm and all we can do is say wow Dear past me
