When I look back at it, guess I've lived a life to lead Did everything I should have done, and tried to do some righteous deeds Fostered lots of wholesome growth but know I didn't plant the seeds If I'm being honest, there were times I even watered weeds Look at me, talking like I'm on my deathbed But just think, how else would you want me to look straight ahead I talk like it's happened cause in my mind I got it planned out Mapped out, schemed out, I like to say dreamed out That's the stuff I dream bout, it's focused on me Me me, man how selfish can one human being be It's so tragic, I thought all this greatness appeared like some magic Set me back a couple years, so now I'm talking bout some practice Do you remember how I'd cry talking bout hard work, painstaking hard work Kept my parents happy when the birds chirped Felt they never knew how hard that I work Wanted validation for a second but I guess that ain't how that work Now I live for me and only me, is that what I should say Disregard my peoples feelings even on a rainy day When they ain't got a thing to say, and I'm left picking up the pieces Of the puzzle, looking at em got me puzzled And disgruntled, should've known that my friends hated me Should've known that no one ever willingly could stay with me Should've known their dreams cannot come true because they wait for me Yeah they wait for me Yeah they wait for me And they hating me Steady hating me Thank God I still got my grandma and she pray for me Lost her husband and she sick but she still pray for me I'm annoying and she still won't go berating me So I wonder can I keep it up Will I keep it tut Will I stay ten toes down in the mud Or will I give it up Admit I can't hang with the best of em And I could only stay one step ahead of the rest of em And so I move against the wind I fight against the sands The waves steady my hands The flames are calling out my name When lightning strikes again It's my blood it will tame
