When i was younger i was Never able to handle sleepovers Cause i'd get homesick too quickly I'd lie awake clutching an iPod Playing back a mix of songs That felt like home And in the morning Nothing felt better than coming home And seeing my mom Cause i knew that it meant Everything i cared about still wasn't gone Now i get that same feeling Lying awake in my own bed As i reach out expecting To find someone who isn't there And as my hands clasp Empty air i ache for the warmth That means you're here I build barricades Of blankets and pillows trying to simulate Your presence beside me But they're not solid enough And they're far too cold And they only end up reminding me That i'm alone
