Bright Street

Looking at once emerald fields and such wide open space Spotted now with brown has left great hunger in its place I know I must fly south away Will we meet again one day I hope they have a pub or two on Bright Street Across the terracotta rooftops lies a turquoise sea Once bountiful but now so bare, that just shouldn't be I know I must sail west away Will we dance again one day I hope they have a dance club there on Bright Street Tried to pull the silver from a snowy ledged mountain I only got to change my lady's roof from sod to tin I know I must ride east away Will we sing again one day I hope they have a music hall on Bright Street I hope they have a music hall on Bright Street Ancestors came from far away And it's always been a joyous place to stay But I can't see the horizon anymore And there are those who want to close the door The leaves have since turned brown and fallen from their limbs It seems the lights on Bright Street have started to grow dim I fear I must skate north away Am I to return one day It's time I leave to seek out my new Bright Street I hope they have a pub or two on Bright Street I can see it in my mind everything will be just fine When we get to live our lives on Bright Street
