Little Lights

Little lights On the wall Can you count them all You look at them They smile at you From the past they speak to you They say "What are you worrying about? Why are you trying so hard to be something else? The past was all you never dreamed The future is brighter than it seems" We were in the thick of it Little did we know Now we're on the edge of it We'll never let it show We'll try and pretend we do not see All that is happening to us Until it's too late and life Is just a photograph on strings of lights I don't want it to change, don't want it to change, don't want it to change But if this is true and we really must go I hope you know That I was never happier than when I was with you all And you still hang on my wall Picture me, picture you, pictures of us all Scenes we know, things we share, hanging on my wall New ones go up, the old ones will stay I always want it to be that way I see them before I sleep each night The photographs on strings of light
