The World is Burning

Round and round we go, divided we fall together we grow  I know I can't be the only one  Feeling that the world is burning, the world is burning  After all is said and done  We all we got, while the world keeps turning, while the world keeps turning   Can't help but feel  Heartbroken and hopeless, losing focus  Lump in my throat, choked up when I wrote this  It's like all the joy just vanished vamosed before my eyes Unreal like hocus pocus  Will we ever learn from history?  Or are we doomed to burn and burn repeatedly?  Got me wondering how hard can it be?  To set your mind free and let us coexist peacefully  I guess it's in our nature to be a beast Once released to these streets ain't no mercy for our innocent seeds  Where's the mercy for them babies that bleed  'Cuz all I see is people murder for currency  What feeds man's greed? Money and fame?  So much pain seeing bombs over Ukraine  Thought we had progressed more, but it's the same  Two thousand twenty-two, it's a God damn shame  I know I can't be the only one  Feeling that the world is burning, the world is burning  After all is said and done  We all we got, while the world keeps turning, while the world keeps turning Another day another morning similar story  I watch the news, just to see another mother mourning  A mother in pain her son died in vein  In search of superficial street glory another tragic allegory  She lost her son to street violence so unnecessary  Went from life to eternal silence in the cemetery  Death catches up quicker living in a hurry  All the what ifs in the world won't bring him back now that he's dead and buried  He used to be so full of life and like that he's gone  Tunnel-visioned couldn't leave the street life alone  He felt at home, loved on the streets he used to roam But the streets don't love you back, you'll get jail time or tombstone  Far from grown, got set up by one of his own  It's always the ones closest to you scheming on your throne  Never did he learn right from wrong  Ended up in the gutter with blood gushing from his dome  I know I can't be the only one  Feeling that the world is burning, the world is burning  After all is said and done  We all we got, while the world keeps turning, while the world keeps turning Sitting here reminiscing, thinking 'bout, my old missus  I really miss us, I miss all our hugs and kisses  So delicious, I'm sending y'all my best wishes  Wish y'all could harvest the fruit with me on my road to riches  On my quest for more knowledge  I came from a broke household where nobody saw college  But I can't diss my folks, those the hands they were dealt  So I fold my hands and pay homage  Dear father dear mother, I know you did the best you could  But you never knew about the hood  It swarms with snakes not a lot of good  A place where the meaning of being loyal's misunderstood  It's all bad, my striving got these haters mad  Just 'cause I hustle for the things that I never had  I'm just a dude writing jewels on a pad  Hope I leave the world a better place, if only just a tad  I know I can't be the only one  Feeling that the world is burning, the world is burning  After all is said and done  We all we got, while the world keeps turning, while the world keeps turning  I know I can't be the only one  Messed up 'cuz the world is burning, the world is burning  After all is said and done  We all we got, while the world keeps turning, while the world keeps turning  Round and round we go, divided we fall together we grow
