I touched the sky just for a moment I hoped I could be free And after all this time, and all the torment I dreamed it still could be But burned by the fire The violence and fear All my hopes turned to nightmares Never meant to be Dancing in the darkness Dying for a dream Do I have to be the monster That's staring back at me? I saw the light just for a moment I stepped into the sun But I was scorned and damned They left me broken To hide away and run But burned by the fire I hear the shadows call Just a haunting reminder Of solitude and scars Dancing in the darkness Dying for a dream And I don't want to be the monster Reflected back at me A lonely song inside the silence Searching for the stars But maybe I'm an antihero A broken vagabond And I can try to rise again Through all the sorrow, fear, and pain And I can try to save what's lost No matter what the cost Diving in the darkness I try to revive this dream And though I know I'm still the monster I own my destiny I hear an echo in the silence A star within my reach And maybe I'm an antihero But this won't be the end for me
