He Must Have Been There

Nobody knows the weight of the heart you walk with when you cannot tell them I poured my heart, soul, body, time, and prayers Into finding our town This is my only land But I've not found the tree For a nest I'd smile to return to I prayed for God's good guidance and His clarity Cast my burdens on Him He must have been there all along throughout our search Yet I feel adrift now Once I glowed with belief But now I struggle to Accept that God lead us to this place The outcome seems so wrong Though I put in my best If I can't trust my choices What do I have left? I came to this land full of joy and trust Now the trials foretold have come He must have been there This must be what He meant I've not changed my mind, I'd run to this land again He must have been there I have acquired truth, but watch joy from afar May joy hatch from the ashes, more beautiful than before The varied sights that freed my heart from my mind's straits Are not found in this place A songbird weaving music in a dark-wood room Must collect parts and notes I've sung from every tree But never has another bird sung back to me in my key So here's a heavy heart I pour out before God Sighing in the forest Here, I must whisper His wonders between my sighs His holy hills save me Oh this pure, pure light! if I ever feel His smile Upon me, it will be in this Land Is it righteous to beg For the town we'd flourish in? How does the Holy One feel When He hears that prayer?
