Today I remembered That you are children At the amusement park That place lit up your eyes entirely Your young beaming faces so sweet to me A true park of delights You were just happy The things we argue about Vanished for a few hours So many dreams within reach You climbed castle towers Sailed boats on the sea Flew an airplane that resembled a friendly bee You looked down, waved and waved to me Then we flew together With an unleashed smile I watched you run You laughed like the roaring, singing ocean in the sun Can you ever know How I wish we were this way more? Remember how we were One in joy You drove the race car again Passing amazed dinosaurs And this year, my changing child You won, oh, I watched you win And who knows what next year will bring? We boarded a whistling train And chose to ride far You looked out the window Of every play-house I was there, hoping for you You rode almost every color Of toddler car that there ever was It was so hard to leave For you, and for me With an unleashed smile I watched you run You laughed like the roaring, singing ocean in the sun Can you ever know How I wish we were this way more? Remember how we were One in joy Yes, I've thought about how One year you'll probably say I am too big for that place But I think that you will be back some day And maybe I'll see that light in your eyes again
