The Precipice

What are we building and why I struggle sometimes just to justify The things that we do to survive Sometimes it feels like a bunch of lies But then I feel love And I'm overcome And I'm charmed by the mess of it And I think we're right at the precipice right at the precipice And I wanna get there I wanna see Wanna see how we do it How we finally get free Free from what? That's the question Free for whom? There's the rub But as long as we're trying I just can't give it up Everyone's had that dark night Right It can't be just me trying to find the light I've pathologized my sense of right My desires and dreams and my appetite But then I feel love And I am undone And I stop trying to make sense of it 'Cause I feel like we're right at the precipice, right at the precipice And I wanna get there I wanna see Wanna see what we're building In this future we need What will we have created? Will it be something new? Or will the discovery Be what we always knew? We are burning Faster than we are learning It feels like everyone's lying Not enough people trying Leaders acting like prophets When they're just trying to profit We rise up and they don't want it But we will not fucking drop it, drop it, drop it 'Cause we're gonna get there And be able to say That we all took a good hard look and did not look away At the things we are making At what we'll leave behind While they weigh if it's worth it I have made up my mind I think we're right at the precipice
