Eve Why did you believe You'd find something better than that garden Look how far it got us And Eve Who's the enemy Could it be the voices that convinced you Your life would have more value If you were smarter You were wiser than God himself Yes, the God who made you And declared you good Was that not enough Eve The fear runs so deep That somehow you might be missing out And God ain't got your back When He said YES To everything, except The one thing you decided to obsess about You thought you Couldn't live without: an empty promise You could be like God And never die That simply having more knowledge Means you'd use it well Well that's a lie That's a lie Eve I would like to think That I would not repeat the same mistake as you I know, I should have learned from you But I I bought into the lie That if I try to maximise my status I'll feel I'm someone greater But I forgot the fact That God himself Delights in me And that's the best endorsement I could ever want Or ever need Ever need Eve I know you had a child When was it you realised he was perfect He didn't need to earn your love He was already enough If you could, you'd gaze at him for hours He'd bask in your wonderment So when will you Accept the gaze Of God He's on your side Because He loves you More than you could love your child And that's a LOT And you don't need to grasp At knowledge or at power To be enough Your highest worth Was never found in being LIKE God But in being LOVED By Him
