Concrete Pillow

How many times have I been here I don't think it's worth the time to drive two hours home When home doesn't feel like anywhere I could go Home feels like a mountain in north New Mexico Don't keep me in the same place for too long I think I might get tired of it But Heaven help me if say the same of you I don't think that I could ever tire of you We look back at our old towns So we can say with surety we never wanna settle down And I'd been waiting to get out And I'll lay my head on the carpet Or a concrete pillow In the courtyard of the very one that put life into these limbs Completely satisfied in knowing no one else would get why My pockets are filled with rocks and stones and endless grains of sand And I know they probably hate me for the crystal on my necklace Never looking past the twisted sickness the modern age provides Yet everywhere I look I see your face And everywhere I look I see the smile upon your face And I'll lay my head on the carpet Or a concrete pillow In the courtyard of the very one that put life into the land Completely satisfied in knowing no one else would get why I'd drive out of my way for a better view of the city lights And I know they probably hate me for the feelings they've faced through me Never looking past the twisted sickness that their selfish minds unwind But everywhere I look I see your face And everywhere I look I see the smile upon your face All my tears are suddenly worth it All my failures, well at least I've learned something All my teeth have fallen out But it's okay because they're already growing back All the things I've ignored, it was always worth it All the hours and the days, it was really worth the wait I'm not quite there but I've finally seen The light at end of the tunnel Oh well, oh well, and I'll pull through
