On a nighttime shuttle down to the dormitories Some kid tripping balls tries a convo with me I ask, "Hey man, you alright? Do you wanna take my seat?" But he just growls, makes a face, then spits a loogie at my feet And as he points at me and shouts out why I'm someone he resents I seek shelter in your smiling at my current predicament When I was a child, I could've done without some gents I wish I'd thrown a punch or two so I wouldn't have to vent To you about the cause of all my dents As if my body's just a car that I rent So before we gotta return all our keys Please just drive me carefully For the first time in a long time, I like this life I lead From the moment that I wake, your darling face is all I see Until all is lost, I'll hold onto you my queen To feel you in the winter with my cold against your heat We'll slowly start to fall asleep again And now my arm's doing the same under your head Thinkin' about the girl that taught me how to not forget I hope it's just a momentary moment of regret Delusions of grandeur in my head I near-destroyed when I wanted to be dead That just wasn't how I thought my first would end Just life's bitter way of saying, "Start again" I let her bring my drawbridge to the ground And then she burned my kingdom down
