Black Blood

My blood is black Dried out from the sun Shed for them Smoking gun My limbs are frail Too weak to run Execution Devil's son Bitter taste of blood Lingers on my breath Fills the salty air With pungent smell of death Clock has struck the devil's hour The pendulum rang As the blade was removed from the sheath Foaming and drooling Blood drips from the fang As the beast picks flesh from its teeth Darkness approaching The wind whispers a curse In ancient language older than the sand Sickness encroaching Black clouds fill the sky Shadows slowly wash across the land Rain falls to the sullen ground Silence ends distorting sound Night ensues devoid of light The wind blows dust impairing sight I hear the sound of turning ground See movement in the trees I cough and spit and struggle To pull myself to my knees Adrenaline again kicks in Struck with a sudden spike On battered legs and bloody boots I stumble as I hike The agony will not subside Closing in, it's close behind Losing breath , no hope in sight Death offers its cold hand Plunges like a knife Tearing through the flesh Draining out the life A waning moon hangs in the sky The ritual repeats An endless serpent swallowing it's tail Destined as the sun rise The cycle completes Striking the hammer to the nail Darkness consuming Absorbing like a plague Satisfies the elders in the void Sickness resuming Amusing the divine A power which will never be destroyed The prophecy perpetuates The suffering , there's no escape Grasp for life to no avail My blood is black my limbs are frail
