On a heap of broken dreams By the cold light of the Sun I have ruined all it seems There is nothing that can be done But if I could have a go And build it all again I'd remember long ago And I'd be the shadow-man A vortex, black and green A scent of silken rose Desires, hopes and dreams Oh yes, I have wrecked those Now a brilliant ray of light Smashes all the rest to bits I will keep alight the fight I shall adjust it, 'till it fits And the crystals of the time Shall let all the moments go Now the vortex's purple-black, That is all I need to know On a heap of fulfilled dreams By the scorching light of day I have won it all it seems Came unscarred out of the fray I have built it all again And all the way I like I have chased the pain away And my darkness' poised to strike A ray of purest gold A nettle's stinging kiss I hold it in the fold None miss the hiss of bliss Now the darkest black descends And envelopes all there is Fires all gone out and cold, Goddess got hers, and God his And the crystals of the time Shall make moments again Now the Vortex's swallowed all, It's the perfect end to Man
