Playing Pretend

Sometimes I think about my life and all its funny games A gambling man Im not, I guarantee Yet I still bet on right or wrong Its day for me and night for some The sun is out but well never agree I stand and watch the years go by The April rain, sunshine she came to stay for our July When autumn leaves drift by my windowpane The cold will pass into the spring again As seasons come, so will they go Too young to die, too old not to know anything Maybe we sleep in today But alas, Ive things to do, life goes on Still my thoughts distract me, somethings dont change I'll spend a sunny afternoon by waiting for city night lights To shine before I call it a day Who are they I wonder, going home? or the other way Ill never know If home, some comfort I'll raise up in prayer If not then may your drinks be cold and strong Another day is dead and gone As seasons come, so will they go Too young to die, but too damn old not to know anything Im dumb for doing things the same as yesterday, expecting change Am I alone here? Do you feel at home? At times I dont wanna grow up Knowing part of me still wishes I was young again When did we stop playing pretend All so simple and plain We live and we learn somethings are just meant to change Nothings meant to last forever So where will you be heard you're leaving town Won't have much to do If you're not around Well I suppose its better this way
